About Me  Gallery  StoneHenge Observatory  SMAP  My Favourite Links  Contact Me

Stonehenge Observatory-New Mexico was founded by myself and Randy Nulman towards the end of 2006. This was a venture I started out on my own but it became clear that one man was not enough. So Randy and I teamed up and built what we believe is one of the best amateur Observatories around.

The observatory is located at Stars End Estates, Mayhill, New Mexico at approx. 7200' - lat 32d53sN: long 105d32sW. There are 17 lots all owned by amateur astronomers. The State of New Mexico is one of the few places anywhere in the world that has light pollution laws. I guess that is why the area is becoming so popular for our chosen hobby. Opposite the site is another great place, New Mexico Skies, owned and operated by Mike and Lynn Rice.

Our set up comprises the Astro Haven Dome, RC 20" optical system using the Paramount ME. The software we use is TheSky6 Pro, CCDAutopilot,  CCDSoft and MaxImDL. The observatory is remotely operated and uses a SBig STL11000 CCD camera and AOL unit with RGB,Ha filter set. First light was early Dec 2006 and you can see my 'first light' image on the gallery page.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this site. It is still being developed, so as new images and content become available they will be published on this site.

You can also visit Sacramento Mountains Astronomy Park if you would like to rent a site for astro imaging.
